The Corruption Court on Monday found defendants Udju Juhaeri, former lawmaker in the House of Representative from the National Police/Indonesian Military, guilty of involvement in a vote-buying case, sentencing him to two years’ imprisonment and fining him Rp 100 million (US$11,000).
Meanwhile, Endin Sofiehara, an ex-legislator from the United Development Party (PPP), received a sentence of 15 months in prison and Rp 100 million in fines in a verdict in a similar case.
Both Udju and Endin said they would take the verdicts under consideration, as to whether they would appeal or not, kompas.com reported.
Udju and Endin, who received Rp 2 billion and Rp 500 million respectively in bribes to support Miranda Swaray Goeltom in the election for central bank senior deputy in 2004 were among several defendants similarly charged.
